Whenever possible, we try to provide you with options when selling your items. This section is designed to explain those options that may be presented to you, as well as the reasoning behind our decision making process.
TRADE
If you decide that you would like to trade your items toward the sale of something in the store, please let us know in advance. As a good business practice, we try to offer more for your jewelry, metals, coins, etc if you are trading up in value toward the sale of an item in the store. We do consider trade for new as well as estate jewelry and diamonds.Any sales associate will be happy to assist you with this process.
Additionally, you are always welcome to sign over a Perry’s Emporium issued check toward the sale of an item in the store, repair and/or layaway after-the-fact.If a balance is owed to you, we will cut you a new check for the difference.
CONSIGNMENT
This is where our buyer and/or our estate jewelry expert help determine the highest dollar value that we think you can earn from your jewelry. We complete all of the necessary paperwork with you, tag the item and put it on appropriate display in our store. Your jewelry is in our possession, displayed, shown and stored as part of Perry’s Emporium inventory. However, the item still legally belongs to you and you are able to take possession of it with 24hr notice whenever you would like (with the exception of layaway circumstances).
We guarantee, if and when the item sells, you will receive a specific, agreed upon amount. In this case, payout is made to the customer 30 days after the item has been sold, allowing for the clearing of the customer’s payment and normal return policies.
Although the consignment process takes longer for you to receive the money in hand than a straight buy, it allows us to do two things:
- Offer you more money for the item, knowing upon payout, that the item is already sold.
- Offer to sell an item for you that we normally could not purchase outright because there is too much risk involved on our end.
STRAIGHT SALE
This is where our buyer offers you to purchase it directly from you, no strings attached. He makes you an offer on your piece; you accept it and we cut you a check. The item then belongs to us and we can sell it to whomever we desire, at whatever price, in whatever manner. You are always able to decline our offer and leave with you items that day at no charge.
If we feel there is too much risk involved on a particular item, straight sale may not be an option. The buyer may offer to consign it only or not purchase it at all. General information on how we determine what we can buy.
