Custom Design & Creation

We can make your dream piece a reality!

Jewelry is an extension of your own, personal style. Who says you can only wear that which has been thought of and created by someone else?

Our jewelers at Perry’s have built custom pieces from photographs, art, costume jewelry concepts, inspirations of nature and even a customer’s sheer imagination!

The process may be different, or less involved, if (for example) you are creating a custom piece from a few existing pieces of jewelry. Otherwise this is typically how it works at Perry’s Emporium…

Our Typical Custom Design Process:

  • We start with a sketch. The more information and images we can collect from you, the more accurate and efficient the sketch process will be, so pictures and/or any visuals you can provide are appreciated.  This is where your imagination meets our jeweler’s expertise.  We want to create a piece that is not only beautiful, but functional and secure.
  • Once you have approved a final sketch, and made selections on metals, findings, stones, etc, we will be able to provide you with a fairly accurate estimate on what it will cost to make the piece. At that time, you’ll decide how you would like to proceed and a deposit will be required to get started.
  • Next, we can either begin the job, based solely on the sketch, or, you can have a professional CAD (computerized drawing) made of your custom design. This helps you, as well as the jeweler, to visualize proportions, textures, colors and details altogether in a 3-D full-color image. At this point, you will know exactly what your design is going to look like (to scale) and changes and/or adjustments can be easily made at no additional charge. The CAD will also establish the final price of your job, as exact metal weight is formulated.
  • Then, the process can precede one of two ways 1) We will either start ordering pieces and carving, or 2) we will make a prototype; this depends on the complexity of the piece and/or your comfort level. The prototype is basically, a green wax version of the jewelry. If you so desire, you can see and touch the wax prototype for one last assurance before it is cast in metal and you are married to it.
  • Once cast, we will do any necessary soldering, final touches, polish it, set stones and finish it off with any finite details like adding texturizing, etching, engraving, etc.
  • Finally… wear, enjoy and get ready for all of the compliments coming you way!  You are now the proud owner of your very own custom made, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, created especially for you by Perry’s Emporium!
