Meet our in-house Watchmaker

Because there aren’t too many watch makers out there anymore, most jewelry stores and repair shops have either: unqualified bench jewelers working on customer’s watches, salespeople or office staff changing batteries, or, many places send out watches for third party repair.
Having an unqualified individual opening up your watch can lead to many issues. Even what seems to be a simple battery change can ruin a watch if the crown is not secured properly, the stem becomes bent or the watch requires a pressure test afterward.
Third party watch repair often leads to:
  • Miscommunications
  • Poor customer service
  • Added shipping expenses and risks
  • A lengthy (sometimes incomplete) repair process
  • Improper testing and repair for the particular make and model
At Perry’s we are fortunate enough to have Ron, a certified and experienced watchmaker!

Perry's Watchmaker Ron has 30+ years of jewelry experience, and is originally from Altoona, PA

What started as simply a hobby, quickly became Ron’s career, and in 1983 he received his Registered Watchmaker Certificate from the Watchmakers Association of Pennsylvania.

Ron is Bulova Quartz and Swiss ETA Certified and has been working on watches and clocks for over 30 years! He loves working on everything from antique railroad watches to the latest model Rolexes.
In addition to watch making and servicing, Ron loves fishing, gardening and even bee-keeping! Yes, he actually has his own bees and makes honey – It’s Fantastic!
Ron came to Perry’s last April and says he absolutely loves it here and we are so glad to have him! In addition to watch repair and service, you’ll often see Ron helping out all over the store.
